Electronic Cigarette Maintenance and Hygiene

Like anything you use, they will eventually accumulate dirt. Electronic cigarettes are no exception. Since natural air is sucked into the atomizer vents, dust can accumulate on the coils and they will need to be cleaned regularly. The consequence for not cleaning your own atomizer and the rest of the other parts can result to inhaling dust that made its way inside the atomizer itself.

Cleaning an atomizer is really easy. All you will need is hot water (near boiling is preferred), a small plastic cup and a couple of table napkins.

NOTE: The batteries and cone should be cleaned with dry table napkins and should not be soaked in water. It will kill the battery instantly.

First is to disassemble the atomizer and the tip. Rinse them for a few seconds to remove any e-juice that’s been sitting there. The hot water in the small cup is used to sanitize and further remove the buildup of dust inside the atomizer. All you need to do is dunk it in the cup (literally soak it) and wait for the water to cool off.

Once the water has cooled off, rinse your tip and atomizer again. You may use your mouth to blow through the atomizer to push excess water out. Rub off the excess water using a table napkins or a paper towel.

NOTE: Do not poke the inside of the atomizer. Instead, use a small part of the table napkin and insert it gently inside the atomizer to drain excess water.

Your atomizer is still wet and a safe way to dry them up is leave it in front of the fan overnight. You can speed up the process using the dry burning method.

Dry burning is done by installing the atomizer on to the battery. By activating the atomizer, the coils will heat up and force the excess liquid inside to evaporate. The coils will glow red you press the battery button.

NOTE: Dry burning can kill an atomizer if done incorrectly. Make sure that you do not over burn the coils. Avoid contact with the atomizer during dry burning as it may get too hot to the touch.

I would advise anyone to just buy an extra atomizer so you could be on the safe side letting one dry overnight and still have an extra for regular use.
