My Personal Experience
I share the same experience of many who used to smoke. I was a smoker since I was in college and it was last December 27 of 2011 that I was able to overcome my cigarette addiction. The day I bought my first electronic cigarette and told myself I “need to quit”, is the same day I puffed my last analog cigarette. I never looked back since. I’ve had an open pack of Marlboro Black in my drawer and never felt the urge to light even a single stick. It may not be a big deal for other people but I’m not ashamed to say it. It’s one big (huge/gigantic/titanic or whatever you want to call it) lifetime achievement for me and I’m so damn proud about it. I was able to give up a stupid habit that’s not only bad for my own health, but to other people as well.
I know for a fact that for people who smoke and feel stressed, a cigarette is one of those small things that can relieve stress. No doubt about it. Yes it’s a stimulant. People who feel tense, stress or excitement on a regular basis tends to smoke more and that’s a fact. Others find it with shopping, others eating and others drinking. To an avid smoker, it’s the huff, puff and blow that soothe all the stress and uneasy feeling away.
Year after year, we probably write the same New Year’s resolution and break it as if it was never there at all. But come faced with reality, a smoker would always avoid anything related to the risks of smoking and that’s one of the things that pushed me to move on. I felt all the withdrawal symptoms which I’ve written here and I’ve overcome them with the thought that this will be a start of my new life. I would need to thank my girl for supporting me after all the frowning, arguments and sermons she gave me about my previous smoking habits. So here I am. I can’t say yet I’m a changed man because it should be a full year before I can declare I’ve totally quit smoking. As part of this endeavor, I’ve put up this site to share and help others who want to quit smoking. If you’re reading this, if you don’t want to do it for anyone else, do it for yourself. All the changes in lifestyle will be proof that all these effort I and you will be going through will be worth it.
So stop smoking and start vaping!
